The studies focussed on two organic compounds (polyamines) that are detectable in unusually high concentrations in adipose patients: spermine and spermidine. These two compounds are involved in many processes in fat metabolism. These include triggering of fat production (lipogenesis), Inhibition of fat splitting (lipolysis) and activation of the differentiation of precursor fat cells (pre-adipocytes).

The active ingredient is obtained from the pulp of argan fruits and is rich in esterified triterpenes (lupeol, α- and β-amyrin). The multifunctional protein LOX has a very broad spectrum of action and is very similar in this way to the renowned anti-aging substance retinol. Once the skin cells have released LOX, the protein splits into two active substances: the active enzyme LOX and a pro-peptide. That makes the protein active in two ways.
