Replexium® – Synergistic complex of 2 peptides with anti-aging effect
During aging, various complex structural and functional changes occur in the skin, with a progressive atrophy of dermis and epidermis. Not only is the dermis impacted, with loss and disorganization of collagen fibrils in the extracellular matrix, but so is the epidermis, with a reduced mitosis rate and a loss of cellular cohesion, and as well as the dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ) with a flattening and a less effective anchoring system.
To improve the signs of skin aging, BASF Care Creations developed Replexium ®, a synergistic complex combining Acetyl Tetrapeptide-9 and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-11 with bioavailability agents, targeting extracellular matrix, epidermal, and DEJ structural integrity.
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-9 increased synthesis of lumican proteoglycan and the number of dermal fibroblasts in vitro, to improve the impaired collagen fibril organization.
Acetyl Tetrapeptide-11 increased synthesis of syndecan-1 proteoglycan and of collagen XVII, and the number of epidermal keratinocytes in vitro.
Clinical tests demonstrated that Replexium® visibly improved the appearance of wrinkles and the density of the dermal structure, for a fast anti-wrinkle and skin firming efficacy.
